This allows for the handle of the instrument to remain comfortably out of the surgical field while the jaws are still deeply in the field and aligned parallel to the body. The duckbill design allows this rongeur increased access to more difficult to reach areas of bone. Additionally it is available with 6.0 or 7.0 mm wide jaws.
